Sarah Thornton is a paediatric occupational therapist with 20 years clinical experience. She has a special interest working with babies born prematurely, babies and young children with developmental delay, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury or other neurological conditions. She enjoys working in partnership with parents to optimise their child’s development and facilitate their ability to play, learn and participate in everyday occupations.
Sarah enjoys supporting the transition into early childhood settings, such as kindergarten and childcare, in collaboration with educators to support inclusion.
In addition to private practice, Sarah works with the Queensland Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (QPRS) in the Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH) in Brisbane providing occupational therapy for infants, children and adolescents with cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury and spinal cord injury.
Passionate about translating current best evidence into practice, a highlight of her career has been working as a research occupational therapist with the Queensland Cerebral Palsy and Research Centre providing home-based early intervention for babies at high risk or with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy.
Sarah holds current registration with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
